Speak!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

How do you teach your dog to speak (bark) on command! My dog is a two year old, labrador mix. But she hardly barks and only does when she thinks her family is in trouble. So I think it will be hard to teach her!? She does bark at the door bell though! And we have been working on saying speak, ringing the door bell, and then when she does it we say GOOD GIRL! Should we continue with that?!

  1. You got it!
  2. Yes. I found that if I acted excited and barked at my boy dog, he'd get excited and bark at me, and I'd give him a treat. The harder part was getting him to understand the "Quiet!" command.
  3. No, I think that if you reward her for barking at the doorbell that could lead to major problems when you have company. She sounds like a great dog though and I don't think there is a need for her to be trained to speak. You could always just take her to some pet training classes at your local Petsmart or any other pet store and ask for some advice. Good news is that Labs love to work and they will be eager to please you! Good Luck! I hope I helped!
